Prof. Dr. Klaus-Peter Todt developed his interest in the history and culture of Byzantium in the last years of his schooling at the humanistic Dilthey-Gymnasium in Wiesbaden. He read the first Byzantine source texts, especially the Chronographia of Theophanes, in the excellent library of his school, which was very rich in older and more recent text editions as well as monographs and whose beginnings date back to the 18th century. After a very stimulating and inspiring program of study with Prof. Dr. Johannes Koder, with whom Prof. Dr. Klaus-Peter Todt remains closely associated to this day, he worked since 1983 as an academic staff member, research assistant and then after the habilitation as associate professor (Privatdozent), adjunct professor and acting chair for Prof. Pahlitzsch in the Byzantinistik research unit (formerly Department V of the Histor. Seminars), albeit with interruptions. He regularly offers an overview lecture on the history of Byzantium from the 4th-15th century, spread over several semesters. <\/p>\n\n
