The Mainz Publications on Byzantine Studies are an internationally oriented series for publications that have emerged from the research unit of Byzantine Studies at the Historical Seminar of the Johannes Gutenberg-Universit\u00e4t Mainz or have been created with the participation of its employees. At the same time, this series is also open to works produced elsewhere that relate to Byzantium in terms of content, be they historical, more philological, or art-historical works. The German or English-language volumes in the series include both monographs and edited volumes.
